The Son be fun

Bjørnson

The poems here translated are by the Norwegian poet and national hero Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, in English “Bearstar Bearson”. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson lived from 1832 to 1910 and so he lived in a very turbulent and important time for Norway. In the end of the 19th century we were more and more insistent upon becoming independent from Sweden. The union with Sweden ended in 1905. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson played a major role in awakening and strengthening Norwegian patriotism. His poems have been taught in school for generations. He wrote the lyrics to the Norwegian national anthem.
